Satan walks into a hardware store, and asks where he can purchase a snow shovel. The clerk looks at him, and asks why he needs a snow shovel. Satan replies “Didn’t you hear? The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl. Hell has frozen over!” I just typed the words “The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super […]
Fly Eagles Fly
The Philadelphia Eagles are going to Super Bowl LII, to be played next Sunday February 4th, 2018, in sunny Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is only their third trip to the Super Bowl. They lost to the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XV, and lost to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. I was 18 […]
Roman Numerals
(I wrote the following essay a couple of weeks ago, and for technical reasons, I never posted it. Between the time that I wrote it, and today (December 12, 2017), Carson Wentz tore his ACL.) —– I am a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. “Lifelong”, as in I have been attending Philadelphia Eagles games […]
Waiting For The Playoffs…..
The Philadelphia Phillies were last in the playoffs in 2011. That year, they lost in the National League Divisional Series. That was 6 years ago. The Philadelphia Flyers were last in the playoffs in 2016. They lost in the first round. Before that, they were in the playoffs in 2014, when they lost in the […]
Wentzylvania
I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan. I’ve been a fan since about 1966 or so, when my father took me to Franklin Field to see my first Eagles game. I was about 5 at the time. I’m a lifelong Eagles fan. That means that I have suffered through some really bad stretches of football. The Eagles […]

In other words, more people […]
Dear Basketball Gods
April 3, 2015: Thank you for letting Heather and I go to Houston to follow the improbable Villanova NCAA tournament run. It has been a lot of fun so far. A few random thoughts about the Final Four experience….. Watching an NCAA Final Four is a weird experience. A Final Four means that four different […]
Fluffya Iggles
I love fantasy sports. Fantasy sports are glue that keep my friends and relatives together. In my fathers’ generation, my uncles (and sometimes aunts) would get together to play pinochle at family gatherings. Now we get together to play fantasy football. My fantasy leagues have friends and relatives, annual drafts, and traditions that we keep […]
The Chip Kelly Experiment
Chip Kelly has been the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles since January 2013, and is now also the General Manager. He has been the head coach for 34 games. It is time to fire Chip Kelly, and move on from this failed experiment. I know that Jeff Lurie won’t do this, because he still […]
Sam Bradford’s Knees
In March, the Philadelphia Eagles traded their first round draft pick, and their starting quarterback (Nick Foles), for Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams first round draft pick. The following are facts about Sam Bradford and Nick Foles: 1) Sam Bradford hasn’t played during the regular season since mid-2013. Since then, he has had […]
